Ultrasound Obstetrics Pelvic-
A pelvic ultrasound is a test which is done to get the pictures of your pelvic using sound . Your doctor can tell you to get the test in order to diagnose a condition, or to check the health of your baby while still in the womb.
While doing pelvic ultrasound the doctor can easily able to view the uterus, cervix, vagina, fallopian tubes and ovaries .
There are two types of pelvic ultrasound used for gynecologic purposes:
Transvaginal Ultrasound-
How it is performed?
Transvaginal Ultrasound is normally done to examine the ovaries, pelvis or other parts of the womb. The ultrasound technician or doctor will insert a probe into the vagina. It may be mildly uncomfortable, but will not hurt. You will be asked to lie on your back with your knees bent and legs apart for an internal examination.
Abdominal Ultrasound-
Abdominal ultrasounds uses sound waves to create images of structures and blood flow in the abdomen. Ultrasound images are very useful for examining organs, tissues, blood vessels, and other structures within the Abdomen. Ultrasound waves uses transmission and reflection to visualize internal organs through the abdominal wall (with the help of gel, which helps transmission of the sound waves). For this reason, the procedure is also called a transabdominal ultrasound.
ECG (electrocardiogram)
Electrocardiography is the process of producing an electrocardiogram (ECG or EK). It is a graph of voltage versus time of the electrical activity of the heart using electrodes placed on the skin. Your doctor may suggest you get an electrocardiogram — also called an EKG or ECG — to check for signs of heart disease.
The electrocardiogram can detect arrhythmias or irregular heartbeats, problems with the conduction electrical system or evidence of prior cardiac problems. It is a safe test during pregnancy.
